We are ever so grateful for all of the people in this community that volunteer their time and effort to make our trails what they are. We couldn't do everything that we do without you, so thank you.
Pictured is Tom, one of our superstar volunteers. This year Tom has spent countless hours clearing trees everywhere from Bootleg, to Round the Mountain and Mussers, as well as grooming the nature park trails during the winter months. Sunday afternoon he was on Romantic Ridge having just cleared a tree on Trickledown, which had been reported on Saturday. He was checking Trailforks to see if there were any more reports of trees down, to see where else he could head to clean up. If you see him, or any of our volunteers out on the trails be sure to say hi, and thank them!
There are so many ways to get involved from reporting on trail conditions, joining our work parties, joining our volunteer crew, sitting on a subcommittee or even by simply taking 30 seconds to clear debris off a trail.

Fiorentino Bro's - Gold Sponsor
| |
We are thrilled to welcome Fiorentino Bro's Contracting LTD as a GOLD sponsor for 2022! Have you noticed the improvements to the Bootleg road this year? On June 25th they spent over 13 hours up there filling up pot holes, widening areas that were breaking down, and making it smoother all over.
Fiorentino Bro's were founded in 1966 by three brothers in Cranbrook, they are still a family owned business and take pride in supporting local charities and sports teams, and are always willing to give a hand or a few $$$ when possible. They specialise in forestry, land development, building driveways / and or clearing trees, levelling land etc. This isn't the first time they have worked on the Bootleg road, they also did so in 2019.

The Rotary Club of Kimberley approached us and asked us if we would be willing to lend them a hand with the removal of the current wooden walkway running down to the Marysville Falls. We will be disassembling the boardwalk on the evening of August 15th and are looking for a small crew of volunteers to assist us. There will be a contractor in there shortly afterwards to install a new and more accessible boardwalk. The walkway will be closed during this time.
Due to the nature of this task we are only going to be able to accommodate a maximum of 10 volunteers, so if you are interested in lending a hand please sign up using the link below. As always there will be cold beverages after the event!

Did you know that events hosted on our trails also give back to the trails? Not only do they help promote how great these trails are, but part of their registration fees go directly towards trail maintenance helping to mitigate the impact they have on our trail network.

Upcoming Event - Black Spur Ultra
| |
The first event that comes to Kimberley in the coming month is the Black Spur Ultra Marathon hosted by Sinister Sports on August 21st and 22nd. Runners will either aim to complete the 54km or 108km long courses. All trails will remain open but please be aware that there will be a large volume of runners on the trail from 8am on Saturday - 8am Sunday.
Race director Brian Gallant told us "Everyone loves the technical nature of the race, and the trails are world-class. Kimberley is the perfect venue for the trail run." He also asks that no one move or remove the signs, pin flags and ribbon marking the event.
They can also use volunteers! It's a great way to experience the event and interact with some really amazing people. Find out more here.

The 2nd event that comes to Kimberley in the next month is TransRockies MTB SingleTrack 6: Ride the West on September 8th & 9th. They can't believe that it was 2016 that they were last here for a stage and are stoked to be back with 2 stages this year.
SingleTrack6 is a 6 day mountain bike adventure showcasing the best riding in a variety of authentic mountain bike communities in Western Canada. This year the first 2 stages are in Fernie, stages 3 & 4 are here in Kimberley before heading to Rossland for the final 2 stages.
The riders will be on the trails from 10am-4pm on September 8th and 8am-2pm on September 9th. In the days leading up to the event the course will be flagged with small red arrows and orange pin flags. Check out the links below for more information on the Kimberley stages!
Volunteering is a great way to experience this event and be a part of the journey by helping to support the riders. Found out more here.
